reorg norg attorg
at work we just experienced a massive reorg, which is corporate-speak for "move a lot of people around because everyone is sick of their desks." until the reorg, i had been sitting at the same desk since i was hired three-and-a-half years ago, not feeling particularly antsy about my workspace. but as it turns out, a reorg was exactly what i needed: i'm now in a corner cube in an entirely different building, which means i have a little more room and a lot more privacy (which has resolved my nose-picking dilemma quite nicely). i don't know if my work gets done any better or faster in our new digs, but i can breathe freely, and i have a second chair for cube guests.
the experience inspired me. in addition to reorg-ing my workspace, i've been reorg-ing other parts of my life. professional developments loom in the near future, i'm building furniture for the impending dinosaur, and i think i've finally severed all ties with lost. plus, spring is coming really fast, and although they say it won't be as astonishingly beautiful as last year, i'm looking forward to at least a few friday afternoons spent driving around rochester looking at the blooming trees.
we're quickly heading toward the four- to six-week time period that is my favorite time of year. it begins sometime in may when summertime signs its annual three-month lease. we'll turn a meteorological corner, flowers will burst out, warm air will flow in, and the park ave restaurants will put tables on the sidewalk. it's really a stunning thing to be alive and about when spring shifts to summer in rochester.
a few weeks later, when summer is settled in and feeling comfortable enough to walk around in its ratty underwear, the flowers won't be quite as brilliant and the temperature will start to push beyond what's comfortable. even so, as i look beyond a beautiful springtime and into a warm summer, i can't help but be excited about the prospect of turning 29 and soon thereafter welcoming dinosaur--as he/she comes flying into the world. i'm heading into the end of my twenties and the beginning of parenthood. life, right now, is all about reorg-ing.
