Justifying Perseverence

The great challenge in stepping into a more meaningful life, is finding the fortitude to live a dull life in the meantime.

There is a vast mountain between you and your dream. Your job is to map that mountain completely. It is a huge task, it will take you years, and you'll spend most of that time simply searching for tools to get the job done. You will be bored, uninspired, and hungry, but you must persevere; explore and chart your mountain's every inch.

One day, absorbed in your work, you will look up from your papers to find you're standing on the other side of the mountain, the broad, unexplored plains and forests of your future lying ready for you. On that day, as you step off the mountain, look over your map: you'll discover you've written a handbook for life in the new land. And your map-making tools, which cost so much time to find, will be the essential equipment you need to get started.
